39 year old father of one has lost almost everything because of a 'rare' form of mitochondrial epilepsy. Please help.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
This is for my cousin, Casey. He is a 39 year old father of one who has lost almost everything to this weird form of epilepsy that no doctor has been able to correctly diagnose. At first we thought the shaking was a form of Parkinson's, but he was diagnosed summarily with a rare form of mitochondrial epilepsy. He has been to several different doctors, stays in the KU Medical Center in Kansas City and been to The Mayo Clinic. Unfortunately it seems that no one wants to take the time to do more research to help, the diagnosis is quick and medication is prescribed. Casey has lost his job and is not on disability due to him falling during seizures. This has also been too much on his marriage and he has lost his wife. His daughter is forced to grow up way to quickly as she knows, and has had to, call 911 for her Dad during his seizures. He now is in a wheelchair full time to keep him from falling but the medications that are prescribed are not helping him control his seizures. I don't know who else to turn to and I heard about the premise of this show and thought I would take a shot. If possible, please help him. No one should have to live life like this.
