- CASE FILE
I'm a 47 yr old male with Atypical Parkison's Disease and other disorders. There is no one who knows a causation or definitive diagnosis.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
By listing my medical manifestations I am hoping that specialists in clinical and research areas can provide me with information about symptoms I have with multiple organ issues. The most concerning diagnosis is Atypical Parkinson's Disease at age 41. Before this diagnosis I was told by physicians at the University of Utah Medical Center that it was all in my head. Symptoms include: Slight Tremor, Loss of Smell, Sleeping disorders, Trouble Walking (Gait and Balance), Dystonia, Forgetting the right words while speaking. Slurred Speech, degenerative motor skills. The atypical symptoms include the specific way that I walk (it is not the typical Parkinson's shuffle), and my motor movements are slightly different. Because of these different but similar symptoms I have been told it is not Parkinson's even though the most effective medication, Sinemet (synthetic dopamine) has been very effective for treating the symptoms. I had a physician who wanted to refer me to the National Institute of Health and another doctor who told me he could not help me because he did not know what to do to treat the symptoms and referred me to my current neurologist who finally gave me the diagnosis. I have degenerative Disc Disease with a cervical fusion of my C4 to C7 cervical spine. I have severe neuropathy on the bottom of my feet and the right bicep and forearm. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney disease in my right kidney including kidney stones. I suffer from severe abdominal pain even though an endoscopy and colonoscopy proved negative for any causation. Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder have been diagnosed by University psychiatrists. I have generalized anxiety disorder that has become unmanageable even with medication. I have been treated with Ketamine to minimize the severe panic attacks and paranoia of anxiety. Treatments include multiple medications that include pharmacy prescriptions, ketamine sessions, inpatient psychiatric and psychological therapy, and multiple MRI's. I believe most of my medical issues are due to my father's exposure to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam. He was a Cobra helicopter pilot where the military sprayed the defoliant so they could see through the jungle canopy. He developed cancer and died at a young age due to his exposure. I was born after he returned from Vietnam. I have multiple medical issues and my children have medical issues I attribute to the Agent Orange exposure my dad suffered with although most doctors seem to deny the connection. I want to know for sure if there is a causal link.
