20+ years of debilitating muscle cramps that affect my entire body. Extremely lowered my quality of life and has left me hopeless & depresse
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In 1997 I had my first cramp, in my inner thighs. It was excruciating. It only happened a few times a year. As time went by they became more frequent and affected more muscles. 23 years later these cramps occur almost daily and affect almost my entire body. At their worst they leave me crumpled on the floor helpless unable to get up. I have had to give up motorcycle riding and hiking the woods hunting deer or foraging mushrooms. I have an 11 month old granddaughter that I babysit part time. At times I have to drag myself along the floor to keep her safe. Because I can't stand or pick her up. I feel useless when I can't do the things I used to. This is the first year in 27 years that I didn't bake my daughter's birthday cake. There is no rhyme or reason to the attacks. Unsuccessful treatment has included several different muscle relaxers, anti seizure meds, medical marajauna, and countless vitamins. I have seen neurologists and a neuro-muscluar specialist. Nerve conduction studies show diabetic neuropathy. MRI s have not found the cause. Night sweats, anxiety, depression, lack of sleep, bladder control problems, digestive issues, the list goes on.... I have lost hope that there is an answer. My future scares me...
