- CASE FILE
I am a prisoner in my own home. Multiple times a day I have diarrhea no matter what I eat. I can't hold a job and have no social life.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I am thirty three years old and I have become a recluse since the beginning of 2014. One day I started having diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain, and fecal incontinence. I am on my seventh doctor. I have lost twenty five pounds in five years and I have been on many diets and medicines, both prescription and holistic. Even OTC medications haven't been able to help me. They hurt more than help and actually send my body into the extreme opposite resulting in constipation. I have had multiple tests done including blood work, fecal tests, an EGD, a colonoscopy and scans. All tests have come back normal. The only test that hasn't is my most recent doctor did a Hydrogen Breath Test that came back positive for SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth). I am afraid of eating and have started to wear adult diapers in case of a fecal incontinence accident. I am afraid to go anywhere and I am not able to be the wife, sister, friend, or stepmom I know I can be. Since I'm not able to work, my husband takes on the financial burden of medical bills, etc and we are in debt. I feel guilty not being able to be an equal partner and help with debt.
