Fighting infection...Infection fighting back...
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis when I was 13 years old. I have had a history of recurrent urinary tract infections, and over the past 18 months (while taking a prophylactic antibiotic), I've had 10 infections confirmed in a culture. I have had symptoms intermittently, however tried to "flush" it out on my own. Unfortunately, it failed. When the culture and sensitivity are done, the doctors prescribe antibiotics ( I've had 11 antibiotics since February) appropriately and I take them as prescribed...Something seems to happen in my body...or nothing in my case. I am not sure why in a dish, the antibiotics work, but in my body, they don't. Additionally, I have eosinophilic esophagitis that has been unresponsive to treatments (swallowed steroids), had a hysterectomy with signs of infection in the fallopian tubes and cervix, had a "roto rooter" surgery of my sinuses because of frequent infection. blood work has shown low carbon dioxide consistent since 10/2018, an I have a B12 deficiency. All tests for CRP since 2014 have been elevated, Sed Rate has been high at times, but most recently normal. They have also tested me for Lupus. All but one test came up within normal limits. I have had both my hips replaced, and my left had to be redone twice already. The bone is not growing onto the prosthesis and once they had to clean metal shards from the muscle. Going through all of this on top of the daily pain from fibromyalgia is just A LOT to deal with. I can't help but think that perhaps there is something that is linking it all together...Something that's gone missing.
