Help me figure out whats causing my debilitating pains and soreness.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In February of 2019 I began having random short bursts of mild nausea, these increased through the month until I had severe abdominal pain and was diagnosed with gastritis. I was put on a 2 week course of omeprazole but the nausea and abdominal pain (mostly lower and flank) only increased during this time to the point where I was having trouble sleeping. I was hospitalized and given and abdominal CT, small bowel series, endoscopy/colonoscopy with only a hilal hernia and mild gastritis found. No major findings in my blood work except mild leukopenia. I was discharged after a few days with the abdominal pain subsiding later. Returning to my regular doctor I had some follow up blood work with little change and thought I was feeling better. I was told to follow up with a GI but had to fight for an appointment. A few days later I started to have weird symptoms of dizziness, fatigue and brain fog. These episodes would come and go without any obvious trigger . When I was able to finally see a GI after going to the hospital for some minor chest pain when breathing deeply I had a negative chest x-ray. and eventually Around this time I also developed severe lower back pain when laying down or sitting. I could barely sleep and when I did it was only out of sheer exhaustion. The GI put me on a low dose of desipramine for functional pain which gave me insomnia and eventually switched to amitriptyline which didn't have those side effects but didn't help much either. The abdominal pain faded but the back pain and rib pain got worse. Laying down was near impossible. I was told I was depressed, manic and anxious none of which I had ever been before. Prior to this I was doing well at work, I was in great shape and my social life was going well. I have been tested for all tick related illnesses multiple times no signs of inflammation in my blood work. No major findings on a spinal x ray or lower back MRI. At this point I was getting desperate I has sore throats several times I had a weird pressure in my middle ear and I was waking up feeling like I had worked out harder than I had in my life. I decided to sit out a bit see if things got better and for a while I thought they did, I never felt quite right but I could function again. Then one day I caught what I thought was a cold, sore throat, fatigue the normal stuff but all my symptoms from before came back. My entire back hurt to lay down on my legs had sore spots all over, my ribs felt like they were being squeezed and had tender spots as well. I went to an ENT about the ear pressure and had a CT of my neck showing only one slightly swollen level 2 lymph node that I was told had no clinical significance (although I feel as its where my ear pressure is coming from). I saw a rheumatologist that redid some blood work which showed slightly elevated C-reactive protein and ferritin which had previously been normal. He decided to try putting me on a short course of prednisone which is were I am at now. However, Im waking up even more sore than before.
