Eating sugar or drinking sugar water takes my pain away
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In 1999 I started waking up feeling drunk without having any alcohol. I would literally have to hold on to walls to keep from falling down. This continued until a few months later I woke one morning and I had horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. I felt like I had food poisoning, but it wouldn't go away. My body hurt and I would use the bathroom 12 to 15 times a day. In 2001 my doctor determined my gallbladder needed to come out, but it didn't have stones or any blocked bile ducts. It was simply inflamed and had very little function. Having it removed helped but not much. My stomach issues and body pain continued. In 2005 I began swimming a few times a week and tried to quit my 23 year habit of smokeless tobacco. I would grab two sugar donuts in the morning and drink some orange juice before swimming. Then slowly swim for 20 minutes. After swimming I would put a nicotine patch on and chew Big Red gum the rest of the day. Within a week something was changing in my body for the better. When I first swam I couldn't hardly make it 5 minutes without having to rest before my next few laps, but by the end of the week I could swim the entire time without resting. Approximately 10 days into the routine I had a very weird experience. When I put the nicotine patch on one morning, the sensation of nicotine felt like the first time I ever tried nicotine but times 10, and afterwards I felt more relaxed than usual. Keep in mind I have used nicotine for 23 years prior and had never experienced this sensation. Later that night I had very yellow diarrhea combined with horrible stomach cramps, but after I had a bowel movement I felt totally better. It was like I got rid of a bunch of toxins. This daily nicotine feeling continued each morning, and even on the mornings I didn't swim. For the next 2 weeks I continued to have the camping and yellow diarrhea each night, but then it disappeared and my stools were perfect and I only had to use the bathroom once each morning. Within about 45 days of starting the routine everything I had wrong with me totally disappeared. My stomach turned into an iron stomach that could eat anything. My sense of smell, taste, and hearing all improved. I also became an outgoing person again. I had more energy than I had ever had and was sleeping so deeply that I wouldn't even know I had fallen asleep before I was jumping out of bed to start the day. This was how a body was truly suppose to function. I also had a new feeling of being satisfied with life and a decreased appetite for food. My portions were about half the normal amount but I felt full. Over the course of 3 months my weight went from 190lbs to a healthy 160lbs. This nicotine feeling and my new found health lasted for about 3 months until I made the mistake of restarting my smokeless tobacco habit. I contribute that to the false sense of being fully healed and I could go back to my old habits. I was wrong! Within a week as the nicotine feeling faded the healthy feeling faded also and the stomach issues and pain came back. Since then I have tried giving up the nicotine. I actually completely quit for 5 years and my stomach issues got worse. I then tried using nicotine patches and swimming thinking that was what helped; but no luck. The use of the nicotine patches does help the severity of it, but nothing close to like it was in 2005. So I still use them to this day. Over the years I have also thought it was an ingredient in the sugar donuts or the big red gum. So I have tried the ingredients individually but with no luck. Over the years of trying various aspects of the old routine I have found that simple table sugar seems to be the key. In 2017 I was able to regain that healed nicotine feeling for a week without swimming. I simply chewed a lot of Big Red Gum and ate the sugar donuts while being on a nicotine patch. The same positive effects took place, but not knowing exactly how it was happening the feeling disappeared again. Now days I know if I drink sugar water in the morning before anything else; at least I have less body pain most days and less digestive issues. Its enough to keep me productive in life, but not totally enjoyable like it was in 2005. I know this all sounds so incredibly odd, but its true and I just want to feel human again.
