ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In March of 2019 I began having sharp shoulder, chest, and neck pain, to the point of not being able to work. I had CT scans, MRI's, x-rays, EMG and a lot of blood work that never came back with an issue. My throat began having issues 2 months after. It swells, and becomes very uncomfortable, sometimes I cannot talk because of it. An MRI found a nodule on my thyroid but my doctor is not worried about it. My thyroid levels are normal and the symptoms I have do not correlate with thyroid issues. Another month or so after, a rash developed on my feet and legs. A doctor guessed it could be something called pemphigus, and put me on steroids. The steroids helped, though we don't understand why because we no longer think it's pemphigus. I had 5 biopsies done, one of which became infected on the left foot. The skin infection put me in the hospital for 4 days. No one knows why, but while my left foot was infected, my right foot swelled as though it was infected as well. My blood culture came back with no growth after 5 days so it really wasn't an infection. The biopsies came back inconclusive. My ANA testing came back normal. My CBC came back normal. But my ESR and CRP were high. The rash has spread to my chest, stomach and back so I just had 3 more biopsies done at my dermatologists office. I had other doctors and nurses come in while the biopsies were being taken because they had not seen a rash is so extensive. One doctor suggested an allergic reaction to something but I have been on Doxepin recently for its strong antihistamine properties (among other things) and the rash continues to grow. Doxepin does help me sleep which I am grateful for because I haven't been sleeping well since this started- too much pain in my chest when I try to lay down. During all this...I have GAINED 25 lbs. I have been out of work since March trying to figure out what is going on. I used to work 50 to 60 hours a week and I am going crazy. I used to help build large machinery and have no problems climbing and crawling around them but now I walk with a cane and have issues climbing out of bed. My short term disability has stopped paying for about 2 months because I do not have a diagnosis. It's now long term disability but will not pay out for the same reason. I would like to get treatment so I can go back to work.
