I am a 34 year old criminal justice student and mother of two. I have been in pain and struggling to get answers for almost 5 years now.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have had migraines with auras since I was 13 years old but in the last 5 years, I have had headaches everyday with migraines and auras a few times a month. I had never had a single back pain until 2014, when I woke up one morning and my neck felt like I had slept on it wrong. That pain has never went away and has now spread all the way down where my ribs end and it has gotten much worse. It hurts to just live. I can feel the weight of my head 24/7 and it hurts to even breathe anymore because of the pain in my lower back ribs. I am stiff, nauseous from the pain, and can take hours to get around in the morning. I have days that are better than others but I am always pushing through pain. I also had a period in 2013 where I could not get off of the couch to do anything at all due to tinnitus and noises in my ear paired with nausea and headaches. In 2013 an ENT had one visit with me and said that I had Meniere's Disease. I feel like any time I had gone to the doctor up until this year, the doctors just want to give you meds and get you out. I HATE MEDS. Last year, I went through a period for 6 months where I had lost vision, was extremely nauseous, lost time, had numbness in my feet, could not focus at all, couldn't process things from my head to paper, pain in my neck and back spiked, I had trouble leaving the house. And after all of that, the brain MRI was clear. After the neuro issues cleared up, my toes started turning blue and veins behind my knee started getting huge and throbbing. This vein issue has also happened often if I bump my hands or feet. I also have on and off blue/purple toes. Several months ago, the blue then turned red and throbbing and I developed a sore on both feet of my second toes. This turned into an infection that I was given an antibiotic cream for and it went away after a month. I have had on and off again knee pain for which I had been seen before. The knee cramps and spasms I have had for a few years was going on when the knee pain began when all of the neurological symptoms died down. They did an x-ray and saw nothing (2012 and again in 2018) I was given a brace and sent home both times. This last time, the pain was so severe that I couldn't sleep, I was waking up screaming and crying in pain and it only felt good to stand up. They finally gave me an MRI on my knee and found that I have Hoffa Fat Pad Impingement with an associated ganglion cyst (15mm) on my acl, patella alta, and there is mucoid degeneration. I have yet to get a spinal MRI, although the x-rays of my spine show degeneration and scoliosis. I am so tired and sick of feeling so much pain. On 9/5 I see Orthopedics about my knee and on 9/13 I have my first Rheumatology referral due to lab results. I have positive ana test homogenous pattern titer 1.320, crp 13.7, esr 18 and low ferritin/iron. I am about to graduate in December with my bachelors and I need help asap so that I can feel good before I go back to work! So far the only real diagnosis I have is migraines.
