ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Hello, I am Robert ,45 yrs. old. I have gone from being an active Runner, Hiker and always busy to spending 90% of my time in bed. Back in Nov. 2016, I had severe and sudden abdominal pain. After several days in the hospital, my Gallbladder was removed.
Just a few months later, I was back in the ER with the same abdominal pains that was diagnosed as pancreatitis. Then, I started having pancreatitis attacks about every three weeks and each episode would keep me in the hospital for a week. After several months of repeated attacks, my new GI Doc placed stents to clear blockages in my bile and pancreatic ducts. I continued to have monthly attacks over the next year, then they started getting less frequent (due to the stents and almost zero fat diet). Low Fodmap Diet.
About 1 ½ years ago I started developing new symptoms that just seem to get worse with each passing month:
Tingling, shooting buzzing pain, & muscle weakness in both arms and left leg. Sometimes both legs.
Burning in both legs. Feels like a sun burn but not in sun or red.
Upper back & Lower back pain. Have had 4 back injections and still pain.
Dizziness, Nausea, Confusion, Memory. This is daily.
Diarrhea and /or loose stool (yellow, greasy, foul smelling) – every day.
Unintentional weight loss ( -40lbs.). I have tried everything to gain weight back and cannot.
Frequent choking on saliva and liquids. This is now daily.
Frequent nighttime urination and urgent urination during the day. This was prior and now back even after prostate surgery a year ago.
Cold intolerance (get cold easy & white, red or purple hands and feet). Its over 100 in AZ should not be cold. Arm gets weird pattern going up when this happens.
I see starbursts (especially in the shower)
Itchy skin out of shower.
Blood Clots (superficial)- Sometimes during blood draws my blood comes out slow, clotted, or stops in the middle of the draw.
Breathlessness (feels like someone sitting on my chest).
Been diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus December 2016. New GI Doctor September 2017 scope does not think I have Barrett’s but take medicine for it every day.
We have no life now. We are home bound. Leaving only to go to Doctor or store 98% of the time. I have Hyperventilative symptoms every time I leave my home and a lot at home with no known reason. Breathing in a bag makes it worse. ( By the way, I was diagnosed with Hyperventilation Syndrome in 1995 by the Army).
I have seen so many Doctors and Specialists with no real answers.
I am worried about all the things happening so quickly is a short amount of time. I feel like my body is breaking down 1 body
part at a time. I just want a diagnosis so I can get treated and get my life back. I am depressed due to all of this and feel so bad for my wife not doing anything because of my medical issues.
