Extreme exhaustion never feeling refreshed no matter how long I sleep!!
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In October 2011 I suddenly became fatigued, it was like a light switch. I went to the Dr. after a cruise we went on in AK I slept almost the entire cruise and did not enjoy any of the excursions due to the extreme fatigue. The Dr. said I had Type 2 diabetes and that is why I was tired, so my wife cooked and packed all my meals kept my A1C below 6 for the last 3 years. I already had "mild obstructive sleep apnea" since 2007 I had been on a CPAP since stopped using it in Oct. 2018 because it never helped. I was prescribed Modafinil and adderall stimulants to help with the fatigue and they only mildly helped for a short time and had to be taken together. I have high triglycerides around 500-700 lowest was 211 but I was still exhausted even then, it was inherited after a gene test was done. In 2018 is when my symptoms really took a toll on me, in October I had 3 TIA's another in Jan and Feb, They could never find out what caused them. On Feb 10th my wife came home and found me in fetal position on the kitchen floor with things knocked off the counters and blood on the floor, blood was from the knee cause I fell to the knees then forward, I was completely unconscious she called 911 because my breathing was labored and she could not get me to respond, the operator told her to flip me on my back, she had and I stopped breathing but started breathing again once in CPR position, paramedics arrived they did a quick blood sugar check it was about 211, so that wasn't high enough to cause this, they did the sternum rub 5 times harder each time and no response they transported me to the hospital and intubated me and thought they were going to lose me twice. A CT and MRI were done with no findings, blood tests were normal, I was essentially in a coma for 7 hours and don't remember anything. I am so exhausted and my feet/ankles and calves swell every now and again and I can barely wear sandals, seen cardiologists but tests come back normal, seen endocrinologist everything comes back normal, I went to Mayo a couple weeks ago and they said I don't have obstructive sleep apnea I have complex so started a new machine (ASV) a couple weeks ago, he indicated he did not think that this was the only problem he felt that something else was going on but did not know what this was just a piece of the puzzle. I have 3 of my heart valves with trivial regurgitation and the mitral valve has mild regurgitation but the doctor said that is not causing my symptoms. My wife looked back at the other Echocardiograms that were done, the one in 2016 showed no potential abnormalities at all, the one performed in April 2019 showed 2 valves with trivial regurgitation, the one done at the Mayo Clinic In August 2019 (transesophogeal) showed 3 valves with trivial leaks and the mitral valve with mild regurgitation. I asked the Dr. if that all together would be like having a moderate regurgitation he said no and would not require the repair of the valves unless he had heart arrhythmia, he does have a loop recorder that was put in May 2019, no arrhythmia yet. I was told to also take blood pressure often so while we were still at Mayo we purchased a Omron blood pressure monitor that also detects irregular heartbeat w/ a 97% accuracy according to scientific studies. We started checking his blood pressure on a Saturday twice a day and the following Monday my blood pressure was normal but detected an irregular heartbeat so I called the dr the nurse told me those BP monitors are not accurate in detecting irregular heartbeats. He can feel his heart and lungs throbbing on the inside. We left Mayo with "we don't know what is causing the symptoms aside from the sleep apnea. The last 8 years have been difficult but the last year and a half have been hell, it has changed who I was, I can hardly work cause I am so exhausted and my body hurts so bad, my hands hurt (already had carpal tunnel surgery in March). I am a contractor and I cannot even keep up on my house and yard because it takes all I got to try and get through my day and I am slow and my cognitive function is awful. I feel like I am 150 years old and some days just wish God would take me so I don't have to suffer through it anymore.
