My first experience with the skin lesions started three years ago. It began on my left ear then a large round lesion formed on my left cheek. I self treated this cheek lesion with antibacterial ointment and covered it with a gauze pad. It healed after two weeks. Then the real problems started.
I had a deep, small lesion with several layers and a hole in the center form between my upper lip and smile line on my left cheek. It stayed there for at least seven months. I tried everything from Neosporin to bleach but nothing worked. After the seven months it healed. However; directly below it, the same type of lesion formed and stayed there approx. nine months. It healed only to have another one form below it and stay put for almost a year before it healed but not without leaving ugly scars. It then went to my nose, right ear, and temporarily on my upper lip.
Right now, I have several on both breasts and a spot on my neck and wherever my skin gets broken. A white, flaky and dry substance comes from these spots. In fact, the dermatology nurse practitioner I visited performed a punch biopsy on my abdomen and during the healing process that "substance" came out of the "hole" and is still there.
I received a blood transfusion in Dec. of 2015 and I do not know if that may be a causative factor.
I have visited nurse practitioners at the local health clinic and urgent care clinic, a GP, ERs, dermatologist, gastroenterologists (due to a puncture to my intestines in 2016 from a hysterectomy/rectocele surgery mishap that resulted in a paralytic ileus that I thought maybe was a reason for the current condition), gynecologist, and urogynecologist. I have been prescribed five or six different antibiotics, a few different prescription ointments, and fluid medications (due to the inflammation) but none have made a difference in ridding this condition.
I feel the providers aren't interested as I have lost my job and insurance coverage in Feb. 2018. The specialists are all physicians at UMC-Jackson and I believe they make their decisions from the last providers comments rather than listen to my concerns and try to find a solution during the very brief appointments I've had with them. The punch biopsy I wrote about earlier results came back as abnormal tissue but I never really got an explanation as to why it is abnormal.
I have lumps in my breasts that Ive had ultrasound & mammogram guided biopsies and those results came back as abnormal tissue with no explanation. I also have these white patches under my skin over my entire body and that are visible. I believe this is where the swelling lies. The lesions will sometimes have black pointed things come from them. Yet no local doctor will take the time to listen to me. I assume because it sounds bizarre. I have documented this whole episode with pictures though.
I'm exhausted, scared and frustrated because I feel as though my problem is being dismissed by medical professionals and my life doesn't matter. I'm losing hope and am at my wits end. I've had excessive, rapid weight gain, skin wrinkling around each lesion and have scarring. Ive started avoiding social interactions because I am uncomfortable in my own skin. I just want answers and to be treated so I can live again.
