- CASE FILE
I am having residual autoimmune issues relating to a deep tissue Mucor (mold) infection of the skin on my entire right leg after 4 years.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I had a very rare response to a mold infection in my right leg. I was diagnosed with erythema nodosum, a deep tissue mold infection (Mucor) and cellulitis. In order to treat the mold (the life threatening concern), we had to discontinue medicating the other two conditions in order to get control of the mold infection. My entire right leg was covered in approximately 500 lumps ranging in size from a raisin to a plum. I was hospitalized for 15 days and was lucky not only to leave with my leg, but my life. Over the last 4 years, I have continued to struggle to return to a normal lifestyle as I still have issues surrounding this illness. My issues include brain fog, vertigo, exhaustion, confusion, lack of focus, lack of stamina, pain in the right hip, numbness of the skin of the right leg, food sensitivities, swelling, inflammation of the entire leg and hip. Additionally, I have begun to have episodes of colitis, which I have now found out, is also related to inflammation and can be related to autoimmune issues.
