- CASE FILE
I have been diagnosed with hemidystonia of the right side. It is believed that my diagnosis results from an extreme case of shingles.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Extreme pain in all the muscles on the right side of my body. The muscles randomly contract and cause tremors. The problems start when I wake up and continue until I go to sleep. Some mornings it may take an hour or more just to be able to move. Nothing I have tried can control the spasms. Two years ago I had multiple cases of shingles on my chest simultaneously and the dystonia symptoms started thereafter. After seeing multiple neurologists it is believed the shingles may have caused hemidystonia of the right side. I receive Botox injections every 3 months, but they are loosing their effectiveness. The symptoms have increased over the past two years and due to the intense pain and lack of muscle control I am no longer able to work. It has completely taken over my life in every way. I would love to be able to just decrease the symptoms.
