Horrible Life Changing Gut illness Mayo cant help Nobody else has either. Always, "Dont know try this med and see or it is in your head"
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Nobody can get a diagnosis that is accurate. They guess at what it is and do treatments and we spend tens of thousands of dollars and try all sorts of meds with no help. We have spent a few weeks in the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and they did a battery of tests and said it is Pelvic Floor dysfuntion, but after doing the treatment costing us nearly $14K was not even a hint better. Chasing this issue has nearly bankrupted us several times but we are willing to try anything to get her her life back. Other doctors say to they dont know what it is and just push all sorts of meds. Probably tried 15 meds in the last three years and nothing has helped. My wife's life has been taken away and she has had to quit a job with a company she helped build and it is causing a serious problem with our marriage as she is sick and in pain every single day and wants to just give up as noone can help. Being accepted into the Mayo and them not having an idea what can help was a huge blow to hope. The problem has been worse since a surgery removing some of the lower intestine about 8 years ago. She is very fit and was a marathon runner. We have tried Keto for 3 years, FODMAP diets and eat extremely clean and very low carb. After eating, you can literally watch her stomach swell and the nausea and pain gets worse. Doesnt matter what she eats or drinks it will cause pain and nausea. At times the flares become so horrible and that it will cause her back to go out and spasm due to the pain. We are at a loss that noone can find the diagnosis and treatment to help. We need help to get anything of her life back. Some of the medicines tried are cymbalta, hyocyamine, wellbutrin, reglan, domperidone, and many more. Many scopes have been performed and even exploratory surgery as well as she has even has a hysterectomy to try and get any sort of relief from the pain giving up any hope of ever having her own children (another blow to life). WE have lost so much and it have changed our lives and the boys lives having to cancel trips, events, plans, and just everyday life is a challenge watching her in pain and discomfort every single day.
