UNABLE TO HAVE A BOWEL MOVEMENT
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
For around 16 years I have battled with this issue with no relief. I am unable to have a bowel movement on my own. I have gone weeks at a time without having a BM, thus ending up in the ER. The only medication that works occasionally is Miralax - which I take 4 times a day, that's 4 regular doses and LInzess. The linzess will only work maybe once a week. I have tried every other medication on the books with no results. I also have to perform a daily enema to at least go a little. I have been to several GI doctors, I have been to the Cleveland Clinic twice and the University of Pittsburg. No doctor has ever been able to help or improve this condition. I have had various tests with very little feedback. I recently had a anaorectal manometry at the Clinic, during the test I could not feel the balloon that was slowly filled with water at any point. The tech giving the test was concerned I couldn't feel any pressure at all, yet my tests came back normal. This make no sense at all. I have pain every single day of my life, I have nausea almost every day, I am fatigued all the time. Interesting note on this, my sister, who is 10 years younger, deals with the exact same condition. Neither have us has ever been able to find a Dr that is able to give us any answers or look into any other options. My particular feeling is that I can feel the stool inside, I know I need to defecate, however, there is no action or motion that pushes it out. It seems to me that I don't have any nerve sensation in that area, yet I explain this to Dr's and I get no feedback. I am so frustrated in dealing with this, the constant pain, constant bloating, every day worrying about how I am going to have a BM....it rules my life and I don't know what other means to turn to at this point, as far as medical care goes.
