- CASE FILE
In August 2010 I spiraled medically. I started with left leg muscle spasms and ended up paralyzed and on a ventilator within 2 weeks.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Not convinced I have MS. I am an Occupational Therapist and myself and colleagues don’t think I do. I went from ICU in Richmond, VA to Shepherd Center in Atlanta for vent weaning. Shepherd Center MS Specialist ordered an MRI and said “ this is not MS.” Came home from Shepherd after 3 months, off vent, still in power wheelchair. With a lot of therapy and determination to go to my sons graduations, I started walking 8 months later. I now drive, take yoga, walk dog. My biggest complaints are lack of bladder function and severe stiffness that I battle all the time. I’ve been taking MS drugs for 10 years. My concern is that I don’t need these immunosuppressant drugs, or I am on the wrong medication.
