- CASE FILE
Since 2016 my health has been declining, and no one can figure out what’s wrong. It now involves multiple organs and aching joints.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In 2016 I was diagnosed with a complete heart block, and underwent surgery to implant a pacemaker. 2 days before the diagnosis, I had a completely normal EKG. Since then, I have had multiple pacemaker upgrades, with no relief of symptoms. I have a very aggressive conduction disease. In July 2019 I had open heart surgery to implant an epicardial lead, after being diagnosed with class III-IV heart failure with previous pacemakers (the epicardial pacemaker is number 3). They tried a HIS Bundle pacemaker after lead placement failure for a biventricular pacemaker. My veins are too small and too weak, so they were unable to implant the leads. Since the most recent surgery, I am now on supplemental oxygen because I’m very short of breath and my oxygen level keeps dropping. I have rashes on both of my shins. I’m now in heart failure and retaining fluid. I have pitting edema. My whole body aches. I have skin tags. I’ve gained a lot of weight. I’m extremely fatigued and just feel run down. Echocardiogram does show that the internal heart and lung pressures are a little high, but the doctors say not high enough for me to need oxygen. Chest CT and PETCT Scans show enlarged lymph nodes with very minor ground glass opacities. Most recent PETCT now shows inflammation in the right lung that wasn’t there on July 31. All labs are normal. Cardiac PETCT is normal. I also now have a very painful left breast, and an 8 mm cyst behind the nipple that wasn’t there before. I was also diagnosed with gout a few years ago. I have a team of doctors who have never been able to figure out what is causing the conduction disease, and now they can’t figure out the rest of my symptoms and illnesses. I’m hoping someone might be able to help!!
