- CASE FILE
This is about my 26 year old son, Chase. He has had convulsive syncope since he was 2. It took till he was 12 to have a name for it.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
At age 2, Chase started passing out if he got hurt. As he got older, even if someone else was injured and he saw blood or was even told of a descriptive accident he would pass out. Once he passes out his body will convulse. He has had EEG’s and an EKG. They have ruled out any seizure disorder and the convulsions are not epileptic and has no heart problems. At the age of 12 a pediatric neurologist in Charleston, WV told me it was called convulsive syncope. She told him how to help the situation when it is about to occur like sitting down, putting his head between his legs and cold compress on the back of his neck and armpits. Which he is not always able to do that in every instance. He won’t see a doctor now unless absolutely necessary even for a cold since it causes him severe anxiety to even contemplate going. Forget having blood drawn. He is very active. Loves to lift weights, workout, rock climb and hike. Very healthy as far as no diabetes or high blood pressure. I know someone out there has to have this same problem or know what is going on with my son and maybe have some advice.
