Episodes that wake me out of a dead sleep where I have severe abdominal pain. Happening for last 20 some years.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I am 46 years old. In my early twenties these episodes started. They are random and unpredictable when they will occur. I always wake up between 2 and 6 am with an "aura" i know i will have an episode. I have abdominal pain so severe it almost makes me pass out. I have cold sweats, nausea, and i always defecate and sometimes throw up. None of this makes me feel better. It last anywhere from 5 minutes to 60 minutes. I have seen three family doctors, and two gastrointestinal specialists. I have had CTs, MRIs, US of gall bladder, endoscopy and three colonoscopies. I had my gall bladder removed 3 to 5 years ago, the episodes did not go away. I am scared to go to sleep at night because i do not know when the episodes will occur. Once and a while the episodes will happen during the day, this is a new development so now I am starting to fear going anywhere. My GI doctor told me after all those tests that I should not come back to see him because there is nothing he can do for me. I take dicyclomine for the pain and spasms but sometimes it doesn't work. I also take 5 mg of lexapro. if i stop taking that i have severe abdominal pain all the time.
