26 with Osteoarthritis in many joints. Osteoarthritis and Fibromyalgia are the main issues
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Since I was a child, I have had a history of being allergic to many things. These now include: most antibiotics, caffeine, hazelnuts and almonds, most raw fruit and vegetables, and much of the outside world. I was diagnosed with Oral Allergy Syndrome, though these reactions are not limited to my mouth, as I also will have a reaction just from touching said allergen. As a young teen, I was diagnosed with asthma, GERD, and migraines. I recall walking to my next class, and occasionally there’d be an odd moment where it’d feel as if the floor had given out beneath me, and some of the time I would trip and catch myself, but mostly I would crash to the ground. A neurologist attributed this to my migraines. When I was 15, there was one week where I could not move from my bed at all. Everything hurt terribly (far worse than the flu), and I didn’t know why. I was taken to the doctor, and my Rheumatoid Factor came back at 12 - which was the highest number in the normal-range. It was enough for a referral to a rheumatologist. The rheumatologist diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. Since then, my anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and depression had increased greatly. Thankfully, I presently have those under control, however my pain has also been increasing drastically. I had a hysterectomy at 24, due to endometriosis and fibroids. After a day and night sleep study, I was diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia. I sleep roughly 15-18 hours a day, and not by choice. The heels of my feet kill (dull ache) to rest on any surface, and it is not in a plantar fasciitis type of way. I also have this ~6” area on my right mid back, where it feels sunburnt. It isn’t red, there’s no rash, appears completely normal - which I couldn’t believe. It’s just so sensitive that if anything lightly grazes it - like my hair or a shirt - it feels like sandpaper on a bad sunburn. My doctor adamantly thought it was shingles, but the strong antivirals didn’t do anything, it’s been several months, and I still have it. The closest thing I can find online is maybe it’s allodynia. I was hesitant, as I don’t have much luck with doctors, but I knew that I couldn’t keep living like this, and in such pain. I went to a local Arthritis Center, and after having X-rays of my spine, hands, hips, knees, and feet, my spine appeared fine, the hips showed up inconclusive, but I learned that I have osteoarthritis in my hands/fingers, knees, and ankles/feet/toes. They also still agree with the fibromyalgia diagnosis. I just think there has to be an underlying cause for all of this. Especially to have osteoarthritis in many of my joints at 26, when I’ve never been the athletic type, I’m only moderately overweight (according to BMI standards), and I certainly don’t overuse my joints. It hurts to even write, these days. I don’t consume any sugar or starchy food, I eat healthy, rarely drink, never smoke, and I do mild exercises in moderation just about every day. I don’t know what is going on, but I feel that most, if not all, of my ailments are all due to one cause. I’ve reached out to Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and a place in Switzerland. No one is willing to hear me or to help me. I am super open to all thoughts and opinions! THANK YOU!!
