- CASE FILE
For the past four years, my grandma has suffered from nausea and dizzy spells with no effective treatment or clinically agreed upon cause.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
My name is Angelina and I am writing in on behalf of my grandmother Rosanna. For the past four years I have watched my once vibrant, headstrong, and beautiful grandmother suffer from intense nausea and dizzy spells. The spells began out of the blue and have not been linked to her diabetes. She has been to more specialists than I can count and none of them have a concrete answer as to what is causing them or how to effectively treat it. My grandmother who would once ride rollercoasters now has to avoid moving her head in certain directions as that seems to be one trigger. A spell will result in her becoming extremely nauseous, hot, and dizzy and often results in vomiting. She has to plan her day to attempt to prevent these spells from happening, and once they do she must completely stop all of her plans and lay down on the couch for hours. These spells are truly incapacitating and are devastating to witness. All we can do is fetch her ice packs and water and wait for the spells to end. The best answer her doctors have for her is that the spells are caused by disruption of the crystals in her inner ear. I am not convinced. I feel in my heart that this is not the answer and that someone will have a more definitive answer for her. I am her eldest grandchild and have enjoyed growing up with her active presence in my life. Recently, she has gained four more young grandchildren. I would love nothing more than for them to see her as I have, active, vibrant, and full of life. I worry about the toll that her sickness will take on her physically health as well. She is coming to the age where she will soon be of retirement age and I would love nothing more than to see her traveling with my grandpa and enjoying her retirement actively. This has gone on long enough. I can’t sit by anymore and watch her continue to suffer. I ask that you consider her case and offer any help that you can. Thank you and God bless.
