10/09 fell out of dump truck, landing on butt. In wheelchair now. Pain, tingling, numbness, shaking & burning. Several doctors/no diagnosis
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Have burning, tingling, and numbness in legs and feet. General leg weakness. Hands shake. Daily lower back pain. Issues with urination and feeling like I need to when I move and do not have the ability to 'hold' it to make it to the bathroom. Was told I have CIDP after several tests but treatment did not work. Several MRI's and appointments including Neuro surgeons. MRI's show Herniated L5/S1 but it is either not mentioned or I am told it is not the issue. Symptoms started slowly after foot slipped getting out to dump truck and falling/landing on butt on hard ground end of 2009. Went from using a cane, to walker and now only a wheelchair. Physical therapy did not work. They are now saying they do not know what is wrong except to say it is not because of herniated disk (also have drop foot) and this is throwing them off. Had cortisone steroids shot in October 2017 and seemed to work well for pain and mobility. 2 more following that but did not work nearly as well. I have been asked by a few doctors why I have not had surgery (after seeing MRI) but Neuro Surgeons will not, since they will not even say the words herniated disc. Was also asked why they went the route they did in 2009/beginning of 2010 with the symptoms I presented with since the reason for going to E.R. was just after falling out of truck. About 3 weeks or so in, could barely get out of bed. The first several months or so they tested for everything from Parkinson's to MS and even Aracnidetitis (sp?). Very frustrating as the doctors that think it is mainly due to the L5-S1 issue cannot do anything for me, as they are not surgeons. And getting those doctors to admit/say it might be the issue, is impossible. Have recently been told Decompression therapy might work. But is not covered by insurance and is expensive. Would just like to be told one way or another if there can be something done. And exactly WHY they think herniated disc is not an issue at all. I understand there may be something else. Would love some answers especially since I can no longer work and went from $45,000-$60,000 a year to barely over $20,000 on SSID. Also, since originally it was an 'On the Job' injury, L&I paid. But when the first doctor decided it was a disease, they say I have to pay it back and have put a tax lien on me for it.
