ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 20 years old and polycystic ovary syndrome when I was 22. I also have high cholesterol, even though I exercise 6 days a week and eat relatively healthy (splurging once a week). I am now 25 and have had shingles 5 times in the past 7 months. I first got them at the end of February 2019 and did not get them again until June. Since June, I get shingles once a month. Four out of the five times have been in the same spot. The other time I got them in a different spot, but still same part of my body. I take Valtrex 3 time a day for 7 days, starting when I first notice them. If you have ever had to take Valtrex, you know how crappy it can make you feel. My doctors have told me that I keep getting shingles because of stress/anxiety. I am not convinced this is the reason because I am not nearly as stressed as I was when I was in grad school. I believe there is something else going on, but my doctors tend to dismiss what I am saying and say that the shingles is only occurring as a result of stress. I originally thought that it could be my thryoid but my labs for TSH are normal.
