- CASE FILE
Sinus itch turned into complete fungal coverage because ENT Dr. misdiagnosed and kept prescribing antibiotics.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Went to PCP Nov 2018 for what felt like a sinus infection that did not move(Started in September). Prednizone was prescribed. Immediately made my sinus itch and made things worse. Stop meds and went to ENT 1 day later. He prescribed antibiotics and that did not help either. several rounds of antibiotics and this was getting crazy infected inside my sinus. Several visits and he was stuck on bacterial. By Jan 2019, I started doing my own research and came up with fungal. I had to stop eating carbs in December because it would make my sinuses itch and drive me crazy for hours on end. Had an MRI Jan 7th. Doc prescribed more antibiotics. In Feb, I managed to get PCP to prescribe fungal meds and immediately started having good results. stuff started clearing out. Only gave me two pills which was no where near what I needed. Then they cut me off. Even after I showed them the pictures of what was coming out and I was feeling better. A trip to ER got me 5 more pills which was to be taken every 2nd day but the infection was so far spread i had to take them every day. Finally went to my old ENT one state over and he put me on sinus fungal rinse(8mg) and 100mg x30 which only lasted about 11 days with how bad it was. Did have a CT scan in March which he sees my sinuses inflamed but still does not think it is fungal. I managed to find a site that sold what I needed and had to self medicate myself for months. Old ENT wanted to surgically clean out my sinuses. He said it corrects most issues. That was Sep 5th. I had been making great progress up to the surgery and through until I started on the steroids. Once they kicked in. My spot felt like acid eating through my sinuses. I stopped the steroids 3 days later. The moment I started feeling the acid burn, I started taking my fungal meds again. Two visits to old ENT for post checkups. He says there is nothing back there. I think he considers me bat crazy.. I got a sinus scope from Ebay and took the attached picture. I sent it to him minus the circle and he said all looked normal. Been trying to get his staff to get him to take a second look is almost impossible. Gong back to first ENT to show him the photo + the circle.
