ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
After taking an antibiotic, I became severly ill ending up in the hospital 4 times. Vomiting, uncontrolable diarrhea, weight loss and severe nausea. After many doctors and tests including the Mayo Clinic, University of Chicago, and several GI doctors, I was told I had irritable bowel syndrom at the age of 50, I kept telling the doctors I wasn't just having symptoms but I was really sick, After 3 years of this, I was finally referred to an Infectious disease doctor who ran more tests and within 24 hours had a diagnosis of C-diff infection. I went through several anitibiotics that were supposed to cure me, but just made me sicker. Finally they gave me a fecal transplant, which seemed to cure me. Three months later I became deathly sick again, ending up in the emergency room and was admitted to the hospital again. I was told I had Sepsis and would have died if I hadn't come to the hospital again. I was then given i.v. antibiotics for 4 weeks. I again became sick with C-diff again. I had to go through all the antibiotics again before they gave me another fecal transplant, which did not work. I was given my 3rd fecal transplant which made me feel better, but not as good as the first fecal transplant. I continue to have nausea, vomiting and diarrhea several times a week. I've had to miss work so much because of this and was granted a FLMA. I have recently become really sick again but since my diarrhea is not watery enough they can't do another c-diff test. I've had 5 different primary doctors and 4 different GI doctors trying to find someone that can help my condition, to no avail. As you can guess, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have missed so many family functions because of this. I wish I can find someone who can put an end to this condition before I end up losing my job. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
