I am a 33 years old who has been suffering from abdominal pain for 11 years. Doctors can't find any diagnosis and I'm just tired!
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have been suffering in now for eleven years. The pain started while I was serving in the military in 2009 and is still present today. I have visited the Emergency Room several times and due to not having insurance I owe $10,000+ in medical bills. I have visited my local Veteran Affairs clinic and have been told several times that they don't know what it is or it's just in my head. I started researching twice a day symptoms on WebMd trying to locate what the issue was and finally landed on gallbladder disease (either having gallstones or sludge). I constantly begged the doctor at the VA to look into my gallbladder and each time I was told that it couldn't possibly be that. I stayed on the doctor about my symptoms until she finally agreed to have a HIDA scan in 2014 performed on me, during the test I felt the worse pain that I have ever felt in my life and it continued even after I was done. I was told later on in the day that my gallbladder was only functioning at 13% and that they would have to schedule me for surgery soon. I ended up having surgery the next week and was very confidant that the pain I was feeling would just go away. A day after my surgery I actually felt a little better, but it was only for a day. The abdominal pain persisted so I contacted the surgeon to let him know I was still in pain; he directed me to the VA and when I contacted the VA they directed me back to the surgeon. Nobody wanted to help so I just stopped calling them. Over time since then I have had several CT scans, labs, X-Rays, and other test, but to no avail they don't know what is causing the pain. I received medical through my current employer and I was ecstatic because I knew that I was going to be able to go to a local doctor outside the VA and they would be able to find out what's going on. My first appointment the physician said that he felt a "not" in my back and said that it may be muscular and prescribed me with muscle relaxers but he said that he would refer me to a GYN to see if I was suffering from endometriosis. I began taking the muscle relaxer but they only made me sleepy and did not relieve the pain. I had an appointment with the GYN within 2 weeks and they decided to do a trans-vaginal ultrasound. I was on my cycle and they said that was even better because they would be able to see what is acusing my bad menstrual cycle pain. The GYN also did a biopsy and later came to give me the results of the ultrasound. She informed me that there was a glob of blood and tissue in my uterus. She said that during my menstruation the blood/tissue was being recycled back into my uterus and wasn't being expelled all the way. The first thing the GYN suggested was a hysterectomy and I reluctantly agreed. The biopsy came back with unclear results that because my cycle was n at the time. I didn't have the surgery because I felt that 33 years old was to young to go into early menopause also I didn't feel that the upper abdominal/back pain was related to that. I'm still going through this pain and I have yet to find out what is wrong. The VA doctors have all said that they feel some squishy thing in my back but they say they don't know what it could be. I'm desperate to feel better and get my life back, someone PLEASE HELP!!!
