- CASE FILE
My husband has extreme whole body twitches, cramping and numbness , body and joint pain, and his lower body stays very cold.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
My husband started having these symptoms within the week we returned from Antigua (June 2017). He also found a tick on his foot within that week. He has had multiple blood tests, MRI's of the head, neck, and spine, CT's of the head, multiple CXR's, EMG, sleep deprivation EEG, most all have come back either negative or low to the point that Dr's didn't pay concern. One blood test that indicates muscle break down such as in heavy weight lifting came back elevated but he hadn't been doing any work out of any kind. He has had 2 episodes of sleep paralysis to date and experiences leg cramping at night that he says it feels like the muscle is being ripped off the bone. He was also diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in summer 2016 that went undiagnosed for years. (not sure if it's related) On very rare occasions when he does extremely strenuous physical heavy labor to the point of exhaustion it may dull his symptoms but it doesn't last long. We have been to several different dr's looking for answers including gastro dr's (2), neurologists (2), rheumatologist, dermatologist, PCP, infectious disease, and multiple ER visits. Everyone is stumped, the rheumatologist and 1 neurologist told us they knows something is wrong but can't figure it out. He is to the point of being miserable and I'm scared he will give up trying soon. He has been on Gabapentin(multiple dosages), Baclofen, Amitriptyline, Isoniazide (for a TB exposure diagnosis in the middle of all this), Vitamin B, Cymbalta, Promethazine, Celebrex, and a couple others I can't recall. Dr's have ruled out Lime disease, ALS, MS, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. We were told that if there was some sort of crazy parasite that he could've contracted in Antigua that his symptoms and his condition would be way worse by now. I am desperate to find some answers and help for my husband because it breaks my heart watching him go through this every day and I am totally powerless.
