ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
One year ago I began randomly vomiting after I ate certain foods. As time has gone on the list of foods I can eat and keep down has gotten very small. Most foods (and some drinks) make me violently ill within minutes (and up to a couple of hours) after I eat. My doctor and specialists can find no reasons for this. I haven’t lost any significant amount of weight, but I definitely don’t always receive the nutrients I need. I don’t always experience nausea, but if does happen more frequently than it used to. I also experience dizziness and on occasion irregular bowel movements.
The only things I’ve been diagnosed with is an irregular heartbeat (not the cause of the vomiting) and H-Pylori. My GI doctor thought that the H Pylori MIGHT have something to do with my symptoms, but after treating and curing me of the infection, he discovered it did not. I have gone through numerous tests and exams and my doctors are stumped.
Not being able to eat regularly has really started to take a toll on me. I can’t go out to eat with my friends or family. Even just watching them eat and enjoy the things I can’t is upsetting for me and for them. I try not to let it affect me. There are people out there who have it SO much worse, but it’s hard. If I just had an answer as to what’s wrong with me I could at least move forward and create a plan, but right now everyday, every meal, is a huge guessing game. I constantly have to be near a bathroom or at least have a bag next to me in case I have to vomit. It’s just defeating.
