- CASE FILE
I have Chronic Lyme Disease. The CD doesn't recognize Chronic Lyme despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. This means NO TREATMENT!
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
It started about 10 years ago with strange flu-like symptoms, soaking sweats, unexplained fevers & odd muscle spasms or twitches. My pain clinic doctor suggested I be tested for Lyme Disease at my PCP's office. She was hesitant as I didn't remember a tick bite & never had the classic bullseye rash, but after some pushing on my behalf she agreed. The ELISA test was positive but the Western Blot was negative. At the time I wasn't aware just how inaccurate & unreliable these tests were. My PCP told me I had a "false positive" & I didn't have Lyme...but I was really sick. Frustrated, I saw an Infectious Diseases doctor, who wouldn't even say the words Lyme Disease & told me I had Epstein Barr Virus & I'd be all better in about 30 days. 10 years later, I'm still sick. If you catch Lyme in the acute early stages, it can be treated with a short course of antibiotics & usually the person recovers. However, due to the faulty testing, I was denied treatment & then misdiagnosed. Now the Lyme spirochetes had time to invade my blood, heart, brain, organs, tissues, you name it. Through a friend, I discovered Igenex Labs in CA, that specializes in tick born illnesses & paid out of pocket to be tested. I was found positive for Lyme Disease. Now my only option for treatment was to seek an (LLMD Lyme Literate Doctor), who fly under the CDC's radar by not accepting insurance, & therefore can treat patients past the current CDC protocol of 30 days. They charge upwards of $300/hour just to be seen & that doesn't include any of the treatments, prescriptions, IV's or detox protocols. For most people this isn't feasible. I had to leave my job long ago, filed for bankruptcy, lost my house, lost my vehicles & would be homeless if not for my family. There are over 300,000 new cases of Lyme each year & no one is talking about it. The criminals at the CDC need to be brought to justice for their crimes against humanity.
