I have debilitating joint pain that mostly in my hips but it travels to other joints with no known cause.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
For the last 5 years, I have had joint pain that is mostly in my hips. it is very difficult to walk up or down stairs. It is also difficult to step over something. I have numbness on my shins and near my wrists. I feel feverish but then I don't have a fever. It feels like I'm coming down with a cold or the flu but will only last a few hours. I have a rash that was biopsied by my dermatologist and found to be a melanoma but then I went to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and they ruled out melanoma but called the cells "abnormal". They were unable to diagnose the rash. Steroids will clear the rash and make me feel better but of course, steroids have terrible side effects so I can't take them for long periods of time. NSAIDs help a bit but not like steroids helped. I have found Tramadol to be the most effective with the pain but I don't want to take pain killers the rest of my life. MS has been ruled out by MRIs and Lyme disease has been ruled out by a blood test. I have had nerve conduction study test and an EMG with normal results. I have had a head to toe bone scan with normal results. Arthritis has been ruled out with blood tests and the bone scan. My Rheumatologist thinks it is an unknown Autoimmune disorder. He is not concerned with a diagnosis and just wants to treat the symptoms.
